As a fellow photographer, the criteria I have for my own shooting attire is that it must be comfortable (so I can move around), not too low cut (I don't want to have to worry about flashing a client as I bend over to get a shot), and I typically stay away from light colors (in case I need to get down on the ground, I don't want to worry about stains). For shoes I always shoot in flat shoes (or sandals in the summer - but not flip flops, something that won't fall off as I move around) and I LOVE my Tory Burch Reva flats. (Note: If you must wear heels, I think a wedge would be best as they are a bit sturdier than a regular heel.) I have worn my flats to death and didn't have any foot pain even after being on my feet all day while photographing a wedding. Plus, I always get a ton of compliments on them - they are hands down the most worn shoe in my closet so I absolutely think they are worth the money. I bought mine in my true shoe size, but like many shoes they do take a little breaking in because of the elastic at the heel.

If it's chilly Dawn could always throw on a cardigan over this top to add warmth.

One advantage of a white shirt is that it makes for a better catchlight. You should also avoid bright colours for the same reason-funky catchlights.

I love the last outfit with that brown short sleeve shirt. You mentioned putting a cardigan over it. What kind of cardigan would look best? Brown, cream, open one, or one with buttons or ruffles?

Sarah - very true about the white shirt, but honestly I always wear black or grey and have never had problems with getting catchlights! Plus when shooting families I feel like I'm always laying on the ground so white would definitely not work for me. But that is great advice - thanks for commenting!!
Lisa - I would probably go for one with buttons but leave it unbuttoned, and I would try cream or brown. I would not get one with ruffles, only because I think it would compete too much with the stripes but that's mainly just my preference.
