Style Me Saturday: Wisconsin Weekend

Reader Emily asked me for suggestions on outfits to take with her on her trip to Milwaukee next weekend. Here's her email:

"My boyfriend and I are going to Milwaukee next weekend to visit family. With not too much room in my carry-on suitcase, I am stuck and in desparate need of your help to pick out some key pieces to bring with me. Thanks so much for your help!"

I asked Emily what celebrities she looks toward for style inspiration and she mentioned Jillian Harris (The Bachelorette), Katie Holmes, and Jennifer Aniston. With that in mind, I came up with some suggestions for outfits she could wear on her weekend away.

For casual outfits, I chose this Splendid henley from Anthropologie (just got marked down and I LOVE the three button detail on the back), paired with some lighter skinny jeans (would also look cute with shorts if it's warm enough) and either wedges or flats depending on Emily's preference. This outfit would be perfect to travel in, and you could easily throw on a trench and a scarf to keep you warm in layers (again depending on the weather). I also love this girlie bow necklace (click HERE to purchase) and double wrap watch, which would both work with several outfits on this trip.

For this second casual look, I took inspiration from Katie Holmes with a gingham button down, skinny jeans, and again either flats or wedges from the first look. You could also throw the trench on, or the scarf to add some interest. I kept the same jewelry as before to keep the packing list light.

For a third casual option, I paired a striped shirt from Urban Outfitters with the trench from the previous outfits, dark skinny jeans (the light pair from the previous sets would work too), and black flats.

This casual sundress option reminded me of something Jillian Harris would wear, and it would be great for a lunch or even a casual dinner out. Click HERE to purchase the necklace seen in this set.

And finally, two different going out options (depending on if Emily feels like wearing jeans or a dress). I would suggest a white blazer (I believe both options come in white) if paired with the black dress, but honestly the pink tank/black blazer/jeans outfit is my personal favorite.
