Style Me Saturday: Austin Adventure

Reader Kim recently emailed me looking for some suggestions on outfits to wear while she's in Austin visiting a friend at the end of May. Here's her email...

"I'm going on vacation to Austin, TX at the end of May and have no clue what to wear, I'm hoping you can help me out! I'm going to visit my best friend and she always looks super cute so I want to be stylish with her. We'll probably be shopping a lot, sightseeing in the city, and going out at night. Any help you can provide would be great!"

When I emailed Kim back to talk to her more about what she was looking for, she mentioned that she loves Reese Witherspoon's put together but comfortable look. I also checked out the weather and it's typically gets into 80's during the day in Texas, so I tried to keep the looks layered so she can take off some items as the day heats up.

The first three looks are casual options that would be great for sightseeing or shopping during the day.

I love this first look and used this look worn by Reese for inspiration. Click on any of the items in the set below to purchase, except the star tank which you can view by clicking here.

This second look I paired with white jeans to give Kim variety, but it would also look great with a pair of white shorts. You can click on any item to purchase with the exception of the necklace, which you can click here to view.

The third look was inspired by this photo of Reese, and I just love the striped skirt in this set! I threw in a cardigan, but it may not be needed depending on the weather.

For evenings out, I put together four looks - two with jeans, one with dressy shorts, and one dress as I wanted to give Kim options to choose from.

This first look has a dress that I absolutely ADORE from Urban Outfitters. It also comes in red, but I thought green was pretty for spring/summer.

This look is pretty self explanatory - patterned tank, skinny jeans, blazer, heels...

I really liked this yellow tank with the shoulder embellishment and thought it would be cute with skinny jeans, nude peep toe pumps, and some simple gold jewelry. Click on any of the photos in the set to view/purchase, except for the tank which you can click here to view.

And for the look with shorts, I kept it pretty simple with a white button down (love the back button detail) and a blazer + some peep toe heels. I would add a bold chunky necklace (I really love this one by Fenton Fallon for J Crew but it's a bit of a splurge) like the layered version from Banana Republic in the set below. (A couple other alternatives are here, here, and here.)

I love all the options. I will say that living in Austin I would never be pulling out a cardigan or even pants anymore unless it's raining. It's already been hitting the 90's. HOT!

Aly - Haha, you are too cute. Thank you.

clarissa - Glad you like the outfits!

Kayla - I figured that she wouldn't need jeans or a cardigan since the forecast said it's typically in the upper 80's but I thought I'd give her the option because I know at least here the weather has been really unpredictable (hotter than normal one day, freezing cold another). Thanks for your input though, I appreciate it!!
