With so many styles of denim out there right now, there is something for everyone. I have several different types of jeans on rotation in my closet, and here are my personal favorites (as always, click on any photo to purchase or for more information!)...
One of my favorite type of jeans for every day wear are bootcut jeans like these Laurel Canyons by Paige Premium Denim. I have these jeans in three different washes and I love them because they're comfortable, they don't stretch out, and they're the perfect length for me. (I tend to prefer a dark wash for my denim because I think it makes them more versatile, but it all depends on your personal preference as to what washes work best for you!)
Here are some more great bootcut denim options at various price points:
Another type of jean that is essential in my closet is the straight/skinny jean. I have the Morgan skinny (although I think of these as being more straight leg because they aren't super skinny in the leg) from Delias which I LOVE and wear often. I also have a pair of skinny jeans that I like to tuck into boots from American Eagle, and a pair from Martin and Osa. I like to pair skinny jeans with a longer top/tunic/or sweater and boots/flats/heels. (Note: AE jeans tend to stretch out, so if you can't try on in the store I recommend sizing down one!) When I first bought a pair of skinny jeans, I wasn't 100% convinced I could pull them off but wanted some jeans to tuck into boots, so I didn't spend a lot of money (all three brands have held up well, although the AE jeans tend to stretch out quickly).
The last category of denim in my closet are various types of "specialty denim" like boyfriend jeans, denim leggings (I refuse to call them jeggings!!), trouser jeans, and of course - denim shorts.

Love your post! I love JBrand and American Eagle skinny jeans. I wear them nearly everyday.
I wear the urban outfitter denim leggings all the time! They are super comfy and look great tucked into boots or with cute ballet flats. Plus, I am super short but I didn't need to get them hemmed!
Great post! My fave brand is Joe's Jeans. My essential denim includes black denim leggings, ripped up bootcuts, and dark straight leg jeans. I've had bad luck buying jeans online unless I try them on in a store first.
I have about 30 pairs of jeans and the essential, reliable pair for me is the dark denim boot cut. I have curves and its the best fit for those who want to show off their curves. Skinny jeans are okay, but I rather skinny denim leggings for the comfort. Great post!
I'm also a fan of Joe's Jeans, and I have a cropped pair that go well with boots :) I think my essential pairs are dark denim in bootcut or straight-leg and then a pair of lighter denim (not super light) with a more relaxed fit (not necessary the latest trend, but that I can just wear to be comfy).
Recently I also bought a pair of black jeans because I find that sometimes only black matches so that has become essential in my wardrobe as well.
