Get The Look: Cold Snap

With temperatures across the nation taking a nose dive (see map above), I thought it would be appropriate to do a feature on winter coats on a budget (under $150) because let's face it...we still have at least a couple of months of winter ahead! Hopefully some of these coats will get you through the rest of the colder months in style.

Warm and functional (for those incredibly cold temps)...

I can't vouch for the warmth of all of these jackets personally, but I do have last year's version of this first jacket from Gap and living in the midwest, it's perfect for my needs. It's currently on sale for $39.99 and also comes in red.


Another puffer style coat is this American Eagle version, currently on sale for $79.95 (use code 56079843 for an additional 15% off - thanks Chloe!). It's very similar to both this North Face puffer coat and this Juicy version, both of which retail for over $199.


This coat from Delias might not look very winter ready, but it's lined with Thinsulate, giving you a little extra warmth. It retails for $79.50 (on sale) and also comes in black or purple.

Trading in a little warmth for some girlie details...

I love several of these coats, and they could be very warm but I'm guessing if you live in the tundra, you may want to go with a lot of thin layers underneath. The first is one that I actually tried on at Forever 21 this fall and loved it, but I wasn't really in the market for a new wool coat. It retails for $47.80 and I love the bold black and white plaid!


When I saw this version by Preston & York I was immediately drawn to the ruffle detail down the front. It's currently on sale for $99.99 and also comes in black.


I love the fur collar detail on this fabulous coat from Forever 21 which retails for a budget friendly $37.80.


This Guess ruffle coat has been featured on the blog before (see HERE) and I still think it's fabulous. It's currently on sale for $129 and also comes in grey.


I adore the foldover collar on this coat from Vix (it actually reminds me of this gorgeous coat seen on Kate Middleton) and it is also available in black or winter white (just like Kate's!). It retails for $79.99.


What about a classic toggle coat (inspired by Burberry) from Gap, currently on sale for $99.99 in the grey, $79.99 for black.


And last but certainly not least, this ruffle collar coat from Forever 21. I REALLY need to get this coat, so if you order it make sure to leave one for me!! It retails for $42.80 and also comes in black (now I just need to decide on a color!).
